LIPOSUCTION/MINI
LIPOSUCTION
UNWANTED FAT REMOVED PERMANENTLY. GUARANTEED! Find out why physicians come in for their own liposuction. Because we specialize in local liposuction, we have the highest safety margins and you can return to work in a day. ALL of our patients in the before and after pictures, were done under local anesthesia, which minimizes post op pain, swelling and complications due to general anesthesia.
Operation: Liposuction improves body shape
by removing exercise-resistant fat deposits with a tube
and vacuum device. It can be performed using the tumescent
technique, in which targeted fat cells are infused with
saline solution (which containes a local anesthetic) before
liposuction to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling.
Common locations for liposuction include chin, cheeks, neck,
upper arms, above breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs,
knees, calves, and ankles. For larger volumes of fat or
for fibrous body areas, ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL)
may be used. UAL is a new technique in which an ultrasound
probe is inserted beneath the skin to "liquefy"
the fat before it is suctioned.
Operation Time (estimate): Duration time
varies from 1-2 hours or more depending on the type of liposuction
performed. UAL is 20-40 percent longer than traditional
liposuction.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: This procedure
is normally performed under local anesthesia but depending
on the type of liposuction it can also be performed under
general or epidural.
Location: It is usually an outpatient procedure
but extensive operations may require short inpatient stay.
Side effects (Possible): Temporary bruising,
swelling, numbness, soreness, or burning sensation may occur.
If the tumescent technique is used there may be temporary
fluid drainage from the incision sites. The UAL procedure
may have larger incisions for cannula.
Complications (Possible): Some possible
complications that can occur are infection, asymmetry, rippling
or bagginess of skin, pigmentation changes, skin injuries,
fluid retention, excessive fluid loss leading to shock.
The UAL procedure may result in thermal burns caused by
the heat generated by the ultrasound device.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in 1 to 2 days. A patient may participate in more strenuous
activities in 1 to 2 weeks. The use of the tumescent technique
or UAL may decrease post-operative bruising and swelling.
Duration of Results: Results are permanent
with sensible diet and exercise.

BREAST ENLARGEMENT
Operation: This procedure is used to enlarge
the size of breasts using inflatable implants filled with
saline.
Operation Time (estimate): Total operating
time is 1 to 2 hours.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: Two forms of anesthesia
that can be used are local with sedation or general.
Location: This is usually an outpatient
procedure.
Side effects (Possible): Possible side
effects include temporary soreness, swelling, change in
nipple sensation, bruising, increased sensitivity of breasts
to stimulation for a few weeks.
Complications (Possible): Possible complications
of this procedure include lack of implant permanence, deflation,
bleeding, infection, and formation of scar tissue around
the implant (this is called capsular contracture and causes
the breast to feel tight and hard). Some patients may also
experience increased or decreased sensitivity of nipples
or breast skin which is occasionally permanent. Mammography
requires a special technique.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in a few days. Physical contact with breasts can resume
3 to 4 weeks after surgery. It will take several months
to a year for scars to fade.
Duration of Results: Duration of results
varies per person. Some patients may require implant removal
or replacement.

positioned nipples, or permanent loss of feeling in nipples
or breast.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in 1 week or more and participate in strenuous activities
in 1 month. It will take several months to a year for scars
to fade.
Duration of Results: There is a varying
degree for duration of results. Some of the factors that
affect it are gravity, pregnancy, aging, and weight changes
that may cause new sagging. Results may last longer or be
enhanced when breast implants are inserted as part of the
operation.

in healing or scarring. Patients may also experience difficulty
in closing their eyes completely (rarely permanent), pulling
down of the lower lids (may require further surgery) or
blindness (extremely rare).
Downtime: Patients may resume reading in
2 or 3 days and go back to work in 7 to 10 days. Patients
may start wearing contact lenses in two weeks or more and
participate in strenuous activities and partaking of alcohol
in about 3 weeks. Bruising and swelling take several weeks
to fade.
Duration of Results: Results range from
variable to permanent.

Male patients have a permanent need to shave behind their
ears where beard growing skin is repositioned.
Complications (Possible): Possible injury
to the nerves that control facial muscles or feeling (usually
temporary but may be permanent) may occur. Other possible
complications include infection, bleeding, poor healing,
excessive scarring, asymmetry or change in hairline.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in 10 to 14 days and participate in more strenuous activity

FOREHEAD/BROW LIFT
Operation: This procedure minimizes forehead
creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over eyes, furrowed
forehead, and frown lines by removing excess tissue, altering
muscles and tightening the forehead skin. This may be done
using the traditional technique where an incision is made
across the top of the head just behind the hairline. This
may also be done with the use of an endoscope which requires
3 to 5 short incisions. This procedure is most often done
on people over 40.
Operation Time (estimate): This takes about
1 to 2 hours.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: General anesthesia
or local with sedation is administered.
Location: This is usually an outpatient
procedure.
Side effects (Possible): Patients may experience
temporary swelling, numbness, headaches, or bruising. Possible
side effects for the traditional method that may occur are
itching and hair loss.
Complications (Possible): Possible injuries
to facial nerve may occur that can result in loss of motion,
muscle weakness, or an asymmetrical look. Infection and
broad or excessive scarring may also occur.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in 7 to 10 days, sooner if endoscopic method was used. Participation
in strenuous activity can occur in several weeks. Bruises
fully fade in 2 to 3 weeks and sun exposure needs to be
limited for several months.
Duration of Results: Results range from
variable to permanent.

FACIAL IMPLANTS
Operation: This procedure changes the
basic shape and balance of the face using carefully shaped
implants to build up a receding chin, add prominence to
cheekbones, or reshape the jaw line.
Operation Time (estimate): Operating time
ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: Patients will
receive either general anesthesia or local with sedation.
Location: This is usually an outpatient
procedure although occasionally overnight hospital stay
may be required.
Side effects (Possible): Patients may experience
temporary discomfort such as swelling, bruising, numbness
and/or stiffness. If jaw surgery is performed patients may
experience the inability to open their mouth fully for several
weeks.
Complications (Possible): There may be
shifting or imprecise positioning of implant as well as
infection around it that would require a second operation
or removal. Excess tightening and hardening of scar tissue
around the artificial implant ("capsular contracture")
may cause unnatural shape.
Downtime: Patients can go back to work
in about 1 week and can see normal appearance in 2 to 4
weeks. Patients can resume activities that could jar or
bump the facial area in 6 or more weeks.
Duration of Results: Results are permanent.
