CHEMICAL PEEL

Use: This procedure restores wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin using a chemical solution to peel away the skin's top layers. It works best on fair, thin skin with superficial wrinkles.
Peel Time (estimate): This procedure takes about 30-60 minutes for the whole face.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: No anesthesia is required for this procedure.
Location: This is an outpatient procedure.
Side effects (Possible): Patients may experience temporary throbbing, tingling, swelling, redness or an acute sensitivity to the sun. Permanent lightening of treated skin and permanent loss of ability to tan may also occur.
Complications (Possible): Tiny whiteheads (temporary) may occur as well as infection, scarring, flare-up of skin allergies, fever blisters, cold sores, abnormal color changes (permanent), and heart irregularities (rare).
Downtime: There is no downtime associated with the Glycolic Peel. The TCA peel has a recommended downtime of 5 to 10 days. Formation of new skin occurs within 7 to 21 days. Normal activities can occur in 2 to 4 weeks. Full healing and fading of redness occurs in 3 to 6 months.
Duration of Results: This procedure is permanent, although new wrinkles may form as skin ages.
